The MacJannet Foundation conducted its 48th annual meeting in Talloires, France – home to the Tufts University European Center (TUEC). The Foundation Trustees reviewed the status of their supported programs: The Tufts European Center Scholarships, The MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship via the Talloires Network, Les Amis du Prieure (Educational lecture series and scholarships for deserving local french high school students to study english in Boston, MA at Tufts summer program), and stewardship of European students receiving MacJannet Fellowships at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
The trustees amended their Bylaws (click here to review), defined the ideal roles and responsibilities of trustees (click here to review), evaluated prospective new trustee candidates and desired new strategic roles. They elected one new member, Amy Carzo, to start on January 1, 2017. Amy knew the MacJannets and is a former TUEC student and staff member. She will be an invaluable asset in helping the Foundation with its emerging digital communications strategy and outreach.
Finally, a review of fiduciary operations and votes on new procedures was conducted. The board also discussed existing and future fund raising efforts, as well as a strategic overview of our digital and print communications was reviewed and discussed in detail.
Despite sporadic rain, it was wonderful to revisit the MacJannet’s old home and TUEC’s current home. It’s the place that was ground zero for shaping so many of our lives and it continues to inspire the next generation with a better sense of cultural understanding, tolerance and meaning of global citizenship.
